Continue reading as we uncover some of the best, wonderfully peaceful, must-see places to explore during your stay at our luxury cottages in West Wales. Find inspiration for your coastal escape and plan your next adventure for adult-only, dog-friendly holidays in the UK.

Cae Hir Gardens (Lampeter)

In Lampeter, not far from our luxury cottages in West Wales, you’ll find Cae Hir Gardens – a family-run, 5-acre ornamental garden, nursery and tearoom. Opening to the public in the late 1980s, it’s now a popular visitor destination in Wales, renowned for its beautiful plants and magnificent surroundings. Embrace the beauty all around as you amble through the gardens, browse the nursery and enjoy home-baked goods in the tearooms.

Aberglasney Gardens (Llangathen)

Located in the peaceful Tywi Valley of Carmarthenshire, Aberglasney Gardens is one of Wales most beautiful gardens. This ten-acre, historic estate is well-known for being home to a range of diverse garden styles, including the fully restored Elizabeth Cloister Garden – the only one of its kind still in the UK today. Let time slip away as you discover each beautiful garden, before visiting the tearooms, beautifully positioned overlooking the pool garden.

Cenarth Falls

Take a trip to the nearby village of Cenarth to see the mesmerising, cascading waterfalls on the River Teifi. The waterfalls can be quiet and peaceful while the river is low, but soon transform with incredible force once the river is full.

Llanerchaeron

Just a short drive from our adult-only cottages, near Aberaeron, sits Llanerchaeron estate, an unaltered Georgian villa designed back in 1790. With plenty to explore, including the walled garden, farmyard parkland and lake, you could spend hours discovering the wonderful Welsh Estate. The grounds boast beautiful views across Aeron Valley and spectacular wildlife can be spotted all year round through the parkland, meadows and woods.

Slightly further afield, you’ll find more breathtaking National Trust locations, including Hafod Estate, Dolaucothi Gold Mine and Dinefwr.

Hafod Estate

Around an hour and a half drive from our coastal cottages, Hafod Estate is a 200-hectare estate near Aberystwyth. Enjoy a day trip to this picturesque location to discover cascading waterfalls, flower gardens and winding paths surrounded by nature.

Dolaucothi Gold Mine

Known as the UK’s only gold mine, this is a must-visit destination for history and nature lovers. During your visit, explore 2000 years of history with a variety of tours, transporting you into different periods of mining history.

Dinefwr

Just over an hour’s drive from your peaceful adult-only haven at Dolgoy lies Dinefwr. This iconic destination is home to Newton House and an 18th-century deer park. Enjoy a gripping day out discovering the history of the 12th-century castle and exploring the deer park and meadows.

From exploring the coastline of Cardigan Bay to spending the day lost in Welsh history or immersed in the beauty of a walled garden, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to peaceful destinations to visit. Many of the locations will be dog-friendly, but we recommend checking before heading out on your pet-friendly getaway to adventure with your four-legged friends.
